Our Story
.On Friday, March 13th, 2020, parents across the country received the call that schools would be closed for two weeks due to COVID-19. For many, it was an inconvenience, but for others, it meant something far more serious: uncertainty about the next meal.
At the time, our founder Kendra was working at Nashua High School South, where she saw firsthand how deeply food insecurity affected students. She knew that two weeks without school meals would mean hunger for many children in the community.
Determined to help, Kendra took $125 of her own money and a $75 donation from a customer and bought food to make meals for the kids who relied on school for nourishment. Together with her daughter Nadia and sister Jelleaner, she prepared and distributed bags of food throughout Nashua, focusing on the neighborhoods where she knew help was needed most.
What started as one act of compassion quickly grew into something much bigger. The smiles, relief, and gratitude from families made it clear that this effort couldn't end after two weeks.
From that moment, Feed the Kids was born, built on the belief that no child should go hungry, no matter the circumstance.
And we haven't stopped since.
